OUR APPROACH
Life Ready creates spaces where young people can learn, explore, connect, and grow. Through mentorship, mental wellness, leadership development, career exposure, financial literacy, and practical life skills, we help young people build confidence in who they are and who they can become.
Life Ready is delivered through two signature experiences: the Life Ready Retreat and the Life Ready Tour.
LIFE READY RETREAT
Just completing it’s 4th year, the Life Ready Retreat is the Velasco Family Foundation’s flagship three-day experience for middle and high school boys.
Participants step away from their everyday environments for a weekend centered on mental wellness, leadership, faith, career exposure, financial literacy, goal setting, recreation, and mentorship.
The experience intentionally combines learning with connection. Young people hear from professionals and mentors, participate in hands-on activities, spend time outdoors, and have honest conversations about their emotions, decisions, futures, and the challenges they face.
In 2027, the Foundation plans to expand the Life Ready model with a second retreat experience designed for girls.
LIFE READY TOUR
TAKING LIFE READY BEYOND THE RETREAT.
The Life Ready Tour brings the principles of Life Ready directly into schools and communities through engaging speaking experiences led by Foundation founder Fernando Velasco.
Drawing on his journey as a former NFL player, mentor, leader, and professional speaker, Fernando connects personal experience with practical lessons around resilience, mental wellness, leadership, decision-making, and preparing for the future.
Launched in Jefferson County, Georgia in 2026, the Tour gives the Foundation an opportunity to reach more young people while carrying one consistent message into communities:
