Fernando Velasco is a former NFL player, speaker, leadership professional, and founder of the Velasco Family Foundation. A native of Wrens, Georgia, Fernando spent nine seasons in the NFL, playing for the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, and Buffalo Bills, including a run to Super Bowl 50 with the Carolina Panthers. After retiring from football, he transitioned into leadership and player development, serving at the University of Georgia, the University of Arkansas, and most recently as Director of Player Engagement for the Atlanta Falcons.
Today, Fernando speaks to athletic programs, organizations, companies, and communities across the country about identity, leadership, mental wellness, resilience, and the hidden pressures that often come with achievement. His work draws from his experience as an NFL player, executive, husband, father, and leader, along with the personal challenges that shaped his life beyond football.
Fernando is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education at Penn State University, where his research focuses on mental wellness, identity, and sustainable success among high-performing individuals, including current and former professional athletes. His academic work reflects the same mission that drives his speaking and community work, helping people succeed.
Through the Velasco Family Foundation, Fernando is committed to creating opportunities for young people and families through leadership development, mentorship, mental wellness, education, and meaningful life experiences. The Foundation’s signature Life Ready Retreat has served young people from across Georgia through immersive programming centered on character, confidence, relationships, purpose, and preparation for life.
Fernando earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in Leadership and Adult Education from the University of Arkansas. He lives in Georgia with his wife, Kamille, and their sons, Alex and Kalen “KJ”.
Kamille Velasco is a senior sales and eCommerce leader with more than 14 years of experience driving growth, innovation, and opportunity across some of the nation’s largest retailers. As a board member of the Velasco Family Foundation, Kamille brings a powerful blend of strategic vision, operational excellence, and deep commitment to expanding possibilities for underserved youth.
Kamille’s career spans national account leadership, omni‑channel strategy, demand forecasting, and P&L management for brands at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Walmart.
She is known for transforming underperforming categories, building high‑impact partnerships, and leading cross‑functional teams that deliver measurable, sustainable results. Her MBA training and executive experience allow her to translate complex challenges into clear strategies that strengthen the foundation’s long‑term impact.

Kamille serves alongside her husband, Fernando Velasco, Founder and President of the foundation. Together they are raising two sons, Alex and Kalen, who inspire their shared commitment to creating a world where every child, regardless of where they begin, has the support and belief needed to be successful.
